The Alabama Department of Public Health reported that in 2017, 1,100 people died from complications of gunshot wounds. 21 accounted for accidental discharges. Currently, Alabama does not require gun owners to get firearm safety training. A new proposed firearm bill will give the citizen the right to carry with or without a permit.
